This wooden chest brings a little Castilian charm into the room – soft, romantic, with a touch of the past still in its bones. Its shape and lines were beautiful from the start, but the dark varnish made it feel a bit heavy, a bit too serious.

So I decided to lighten things up. Literally. I gently sanded the surface, taking time to let the wood breathe again. Then I used a whitewash technique – just enough to keep its rustic texture but give it a softer, more lived-in feel. To finish it off, I sealed everything with white furniture wax. It protects the surface and brings out that lovely, natural grain.

The result? A vintage piece reimagined, full of warmth and character – perfect for those who love pieces with a past and a soul.
