A CHEST WITH HISTORY AND STYLE

Upcycled castellan beauty

We started with a piece that held meaning — not because it was grand, but because it had always been there. A chest, dark and weighty, tucked into the corner of a home filled with stories.

The client didn’t want a completely new look. Just… something lighter. Something that felt like now.

Bit by bit, the old varnish came off, revealing wood that still had warmth in it. We stood together, talking about finishes, tones, and the mood she wanted it to carry. In the end, we chose a soft wax — subtle enough to let the grain breathe, strong enough to protect it.

That’s what I love most about working on a commission: it’s not just a job, it’s a quiet collaboration. Every layer, every change, done with purpose.

Now, the chest feels renovated — not redone. Familiar, but clearer somehow.

Maybe you have something like that too — something you’d like to see in a new light. I’d love to help.
